I’m considering just getting a dedicated custom stocked shot gun built for upland, I’ve read some reviews. Has anyone personally had one built. For the price they seem like a decent deal.

5wt you can use whatever you want. The question is what is right for the fish. 12lb is way outside for a 5wt, too big, for the reasons the guys said. 5x or 6x are the most common tapered leader size probably used on the 5wt. If going for bass, maybe 4x. This equates to 2lb - 4lb mono. You'll need to say a bit about what you're fishing for and where, to get better information. People really do ...
